Ahead of her trip to Israel, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi congratulated the Jewish state in honor of its upcoming 70th anniversary of independence. Pelosi will soon lead a delegation of Democrats on a trip to Israel and Jordan that focuses on “global and regional security and cooperation issues,” her office stated.
“There is no greater political accomplishment in the 20th Century than the establishment of the State of Israel,” said Pelosi in a statement. “Our delegation is pleased to be able to extend the congratulations of the American people to the people of Israel as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of Jewish state this spring.”
The 10-member delegation includes representatives Rosa DeLauro and Jim Himes of Connecticut, Hakeem Jeffries of New York, Adam Schiff and Jimmy Panetta of California, Donald McEachin of Virginia and Jamie Raskin of Maryland.
Pelosi called Jordan a key American ally and said that while in Amman, the delegation anticipates “productive meetings on how our two nations and people can work together to strengthen our economic and security relationships.”
