Israeli soccer player Eran Zahavi was picked as the most valuable player of the season in the Chinese Super League after he scored a total of 27 goals during his second season in Asia. Zahavi was just one goal shy of tying the league record of 28.

After a very successful season, Israeli soccer player Eran Zahavi was named the most valuable player of the year in the Chinese Super League on Saturday. Zahavi received the prestigious title after he scored 27 goals during the season for his Guangzhou R&F club team, just one goal shy of tying the league record.
This past season was Zahavi’s second in China. Ever since he began playing in the CSL about a year and a half ago, he has succeeded in scoring goal after goal, amazing Chinese soccer fans. Zahavi’s team finished the season in fifth place.
Earlier this year, Zahavi’s contract was extended until 2020. According to the terms, he will receive an estimated seven million dollars per season. However, Zahavi said during the award ceremony that he is not sure whether he will remain on the Guangzhou R&F team for the next season. Other Chinese teams have already expressed their interest in the Israeli soccer star.
