During his upcoming visit to Israel, US Vice President Mike Pence will speak before the Knesset. Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein’s office reportedly confirmed the news of Pence’s speech on Wednesday.
Last month, JOL reported that Pence announced his Middle East trip, which will include stops in Israel and Egypt. Speaking at In Defense of Christians’ solidarity event for Christians in the Middle East in Washington, Pence stated: “One of the messages that I will bring on the president’s behalf to leaders across the region is that now is the time to bring an end to the persecution of Christians and all religious minorities.”
Pence will visit Israel during Hanukkah. The US vice president is expected to discuss the possibilities of a regional peace agreement during separate meetings with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to the Associated Press. With Netanyahu, Pence will also discuss the new US strategy on Iran.
