US President Donald Trump will not be attending the opening of the new US embassy in Jerusalem in May, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.
Though the embassy is expected to be opened on May 14 as planned, Israeli and US diplomats are trying to find another date for a cornerstone ceremony that will be suitable for Trump. The White House said no decision has been made as of yet.
Earlier on Tuesday, Israel’s Planning and Building Council said it would exempt the new embassy building from certain bureaucratic procedures in order to avoid a delay in the opening of the embassy.
