The family members of 15-year-old Nimr Abu Omar, the Bedouin boy who was killed on Monday along the Israeli-Egyptian border, were angry yesterday evening (Wednesday) because no representative from the Israeli Defense Ministry or government attended the funeral.

“Why didn’t anyone come to the ceremony,” said one relative. “They needed to come and pay their respects.” The Israeli Defense Ministry stated in response: “A senior-level representative from the ministry will visit the mourning tent.” Israeli President Reuven Rivlin visited the family today in order to pay his respects.

As reported on Monday by JOL, Omar’s father blames the IDF and Israeli Defense Ministry for the tragedy.
