Amid the growing tensions between Pyongyang and Washington, North Korean officials continue to attack US President Donald Trump and stress that their leader will not be the first to fold. “It’s impossible to conduct a dialogue with such a person who is lacking all logic and understands only power,” they said in reference to America’s president.

In a statement that was published by the state-run news agency in North Korea, Pyongyang said that Trump “released a pile of nonsense when he made his ‘fire and fury’ threat” and accused the US president of being “a senile who has failed to grasp the seriousness of the continuous situation.”

“We are closely monitoring the speeches and conduct of the United States,” the statement continued. The tensions between North Korea and the US peaked over the past week after the new sanctions against the isolated dictatorship were unanimously approved by the UN Security Council. Shortly thereafter, a war of words erupted between Washington and Pyongyang.

As reported by JerusalemOnline yesterday, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis issued a harsh warning to North Korea, echoing Trump’s ‘fire and fury’ comment: should North Korea take action, it would “lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people.”

“While our State Department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth,” he added. “The DPRK regime’s actions will continue to be grossly overmatched by ours and would lose any arms race or conflict it initiates.”
