North Korea says it will no longer conduct nuclear and missile tests and will instead work to promote peace in the Korean Peninsula.

The state-run media published a statement by the country’s leader, Kim Jong-Un, claiming that such tests are no longer necessary because North Korea has completed the development of its nuclear capabilities.

This announcement comes a day before Kim is scheduled to meet with his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in to discuss the nuclear threat and other issues.

In a tweet, US President Donald Trump called the announcement “very good news for North Korea and the world.”
