US President Barack Obama is expected to meet today (Thursday) with president-elect Donald Trump for the first time since the election results were announced yesterday. During today’s meeting, Obama will start to plan with Trump the layout of the future meetings between the two until the Republican president-elect takes office in January 2017.
During the meetings, Obama will reveal to Trump several sensitive details about complex issues including the US nuclear codes. As commander-in-chief, the president is the only person authorized to approve a nuclear attack. It is estimated that the US Army has about 900 nuclear warheads, which are 20 times more powerful than the bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. When away from the White House, the president is always accompanied by one of the rotating presidential military aides who carries the nuclear football with him at all times.
However, Trump will not only be receiving information about his new duties from Obama. During the upcoming days, representatives from the American intelligence agencies will meet with Trump in order to brief him on some of their organizations’ most important and secret operations, missions and activities.
As reported by JOL News today, many American Muslim women have been tweeting in the past 24 hours about their fears now that Trump has become the new president-elect, according to the website Buzzfeed.
