The 5-year-old who was saved bleeding from rubble in Syria has turned into the symbol of the children, who have become victims within the country’s bloody civil war. However, nearly one year later, Lebanese television broadcasted an interview with Omran’s family, who is still living in Syria, and the little boy is seen strong and healthy.

In August 2016, a photograph of soot-covered and bleeding 5-year-old Omran Daqneesh shocked the world after being saved from the rubble of his home in Aleppo, Syria. Yesterday (Monday), new pictures of Omran were published showing him happy and healthy on his family’s lap.
In an interview with a Lebanese news outlet controlled by the Assad regime, Omran sat on his father’s lap within their home in Syria, after his older brother, 10-year-old Ali, was killed in an air raid. “Here he is today, living in his land with his army, his leaders and his nation,” the writing next to the published photograph reads.
