Soon Israel’s power supply to Gaza will be reduced and in certain places within the Gaza Strip, there will only be three hours of electricity. Gaza’s electricity is provided by Israel and the Palestinian Authority, who pays for the bill, announced that it would stop doing so, which could escalate towards violence and lead to a humanitarian crisis within the Gaza Strip. “The money goes towards the tunnels and weapons production,” stated senior-level Palestinian Authority leaders during a meeting with Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon.
Several reports reveal that Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah and the official in charge of civil affairs within the Palestinian Authority, Hussein Sheikh, slammed Hamas during a meeting between Kahlon and IDF Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai that took place during Shavuot.
“We will not pay for Hamas’ electricity bill,” the Palestinian officials stated after Kahlon and Mordechai expressed concern for a humanitarian crisis that could occur in the Gaza Strip. “They are conducting a luxury revolution. They established a shadow government and they attack us and Abbas.”
