Senior level Palestinian officials declared that they will leave the talks even today if Israel will not return to the discussions without preconditions. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine claimed: “Israel is digging itself a grave and will pay the price.”

Have the talks in Egypt collapsed?  Mousa Abu Marzouk, a senior level Palestinian delegate in Cairo, warned last night that the delegation will leave Cairo even today unless the Israeli representatives will return to the discussions without preconditions.

“In the next 24 hours, we will decide about the mission’s continued presence in Egypt,” Abu Marzouk added in an interview with Reuters. He stated that a final decision will be made following a discussion with the Egyptian mediators during the day.

Abu Marzouk stated that “the Palestinian people have nothing to lose and really have no choice. They can either be killed by the blockade or to be killed by bombs and missile fire from airplanes.” The Palestinian delegation arrived in Cairo nine days ago and remained there even after the collapse of the ceasefire. They staid even after Israeli negotiators left on Friday.

Head of the Palestinian delegation Azzam Al Ahmed stated in an interview with Al Arabiya that the Palestinian groups “will leave if it will be confirmed to us that Israel won’t return to the discussions without preconditions.” The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine also expressed support for the remarks by the delegates, alleging that Israel is trying to force the Palestinians to revolt against Hamas but “their plan failed. Israel is digging itself a grave and will pay the price.”
