A Palestinian group is calling on Netflix to stop airing the popular drama series Fauda. According to the Ramallah-based Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI), the Israeli hit TV show is “an anti-Arab racist, Israeli propaganda tool that glorifies the Israeli military’s war crimes against the Palestinian people.”

The show, which wrapped up it’s second season, follows an undercover Israeli unit operating in the West Bank. The show’s name means “chaos” in Arabic.

“The series ‘Fauda’ promotes and legitimizes violent acts committed against Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territory by Israeli army death squads — the so-called ‘Mistaravim,’” the group stated. “The show’s writers, who were members in these units, have based the series on the war crimes committed by these squads against Palestinians…PACBI calls on Netflix to suspend its production of season three of the series, and to remove season one and two from its service.”

Since its premiere in 2016, Fauda has won several awards, including Best Drama Series, at the Israeli Academy Awards.
