On Friday morning, the Israeli Police arrested a 25-year-old resident of Shuafat in East Jerusalem, who is suspected of attempting to injure a Border Police force in Jerusalem’s Old City.

He threw Molotov cocktails at the force as civilians and police were passing by. The cocktails exploded but luckily injured no one. The suspect fled the scene, running into an ally. He was arrested after a brief chase. In the police interrogation, he claimed he tried to hurt Jews and police officers.

“The officers and soldiers’ quick and decisive reaction led to the immediate arrest of the terrorist whose intention was to injure them,” David District Commander Doron Tugeman stated following the incident. “We have deployed reinforcements and we will continue to secure residents and visitors in the area, without letting anyone harm the routine and the public’s well-being and safety.”

These violent incidents have been taking place since last night following the terror attack near Itamar. Last night, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at an IDF vehicle in a Salafi village in Samaria. No one was injured in the incident. Also last night, a Palestinian vehicle was set on fire near Ramallah and “Henkin Revenge” was spray-painted on a house wall. In addition, settlers threw stones at the car of the Palestinian Intelligence Commander in Hebron. He was slightly injured an evacuated to a Nablus hospital.
