Philippine security forces are currently fighting ISIS-linked terrorist in the city of Marawi. The terrorists stormed a church and have taken hostages. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of emergency and martial law on the island of Mindanao, where Marawi is located.

According to various reports, terrorists stormed a church in Marawi, the Philippines, and have taken hostages. The terrorists belong to the Maute group, which is linked to ISIS. The terrorists also set fire to a school and jail. Two soldiers and a police officer were killed in a shootout with the terrorists. At least 12 people were injured.
In light of the situation in Marawi, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte declared a state of emergency and martial law on the island of Mindanao, where the city is located. Duterte is currently in Russia and has announced that he will cut his visit short in order to return home to deal with the crisis.
While in Moscow, Duterte met with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. During the two leaders’ meeting, Duterte told Putin that his country needs modern weapons in order to fight the terrorists.
