Over the past few days, speculation has an arisen on possible concessions in the yet to be revealed “Deal of the Century” by Prime Minister Netanyahu because of US President Donald Trump’s favorable actions towards Israel. The Trump administration recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by moving its embassy there and has recognized the Golan Heights to belong to Israel.
Netanyahu said at speaking in the Revava settlement in the West Bank that “we will not allow the dismantling of any settlement as part of any peace plan,”
“Here’s a commitment, write it down. I offer it under my own name, but it’s crucial to understand that it has no time limit No settlement can be uprooted in the Land of Israel, neither Jewish nor Arab. We do not uproot people. We’re done with this nonsense. Under my leadership, Israel did not and will not repeat the mistakes of the past,” Netanyahu said.
During this past April’s general election, Netanyahu promised, in the event of re-election, to annex Israeli settlements in the West Bank. He also rejected the idea of a Palestinian state by stating that “it will endanger our existence. I withstood huge pressure over the past eight years, no prime minister has withstood such pressure. We must control our destiny”.
The Palestinians have already rejected the American peace plan, as the Trump administration has discredited itself, according to them, by being biased towards Israeli interests
More than 600,000 Israeli’s live in the West Bank.
