A new poll, conducted after the latest developments in the Bezeq corruption case, indicates that half of the Israeli public believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to step down. 42% support early elections.

Amid the latest developments in a fourth corruption case involving Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a new poll shows that half of Israelis believe Netanyahu should step down.

According to the poll, which was conducted by Midgam and iPanels for Israel News Company, only 33% think Netanyahu should remain in his position. 50% said he should resign and the other 17% were not certain.

In addition, 42% of the poll-takers said they are in favor of early elections, while 36% do not believe they are necessary.

During a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Netanyahu projected business as usual amid demands that he step down. “I’m continuing to work for the good of the country,” he said.
