A new poll indicates that the majority of the Israeli public has faith that US President Donald Trump will be able to reach a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians.
According to the poll, which was conducted by the Tel Aviv University’s Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), 55% of Israelis believe Trump can broker a peace deal, despite the Palestinian leadership’s repeated announcements that it no longer considers the US a legitimate mediator after Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
When asked whether Israel should keep or give back the Arab neighborhoods of East Jerusalem as part of a future deal, 51% said these neighborhoods should be given to the Palestinians.
