According to an Israeli security official, the technology displayed in North Korea’s missile test yesterday was impressive. The official stated that it is possible that the missile was developed with the help of China.
Watch: The launch
A day after North Korea tested an intermediate-range ballistic missile, an Israeli security official stated that the launch was clearly a more serious threat against the West and that the missile was most likely developed with the help of China. “It looks like the test was successful and it certainly shows impressive technological capabilities,” explained the Israeli official, who added that Pyongyang was obviously challenging the U.S. with the launch.
“This was a strong missile that had never been seen before,” added the official. “[This was] a multi-stage missile with enough fuel for a range of 1,500-2,000 kilometers, even though it was declared that it can reach 3,000 kilometers. It is very similar to the Chinese missile called JL1, so both of the countries could have developed it together.”

The official added that this type of missile does not exist in the Middle East. However, North Korea has previously provided missile technology to Tehran. According to the official, the missile is launched from a special vehicle that can travel through harsh topographic conditions, meaning that it is harder to locate and destroy the missile before the launch.
