Syrian news agencies reported early this morning (Monday) that the Israeli Air Force attacked a weapons convoy that was on its way to Hezbollah and a few Syrian military outposts that are also used by Hezbollah. The IDF declined to comment on the reports.
The reports indicate that the attack was similar to the airstrikes that were carried out by Israel on Friday morning of last week. However, neither Syrian nor Israeli officials have confirmed the reports about this morning’s attack.
Syrian Ambassador to the UN Bashar Jaafari commented yesterday on Friday’s attack. Jaafari said that the response of the Syrian Army was “appropriate given the Israeli attack” and accused Israel of aiding terrorist organizations. In response, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon stated: “It is the peak of hypocrisy for the ambassador of a regime that massacres its own people to level such accusations at us. Israel will continue to defend its citizens and will act against any attempt to harm them.”
Yesterday, Syrian media outlets reported that the IDF targeted and eliminated a member of Bashar al-Assad’s militia.
