The Israeli report that the Americans and Palestinians coordinated with one another ahead of the UN Security Council Resolution came from an unexpected source. An Egyptian newspaper published yesterday that two weeks ago, a meeting was held in Washington, DC between US Secretary of State John Kerry, US National Security Adviser Susan Rice and Palestinian Representative Saeb Erekat.
According to the publication, Kerry and Rice told the Palestinians that they are ready to cooperate with them on a UN Security Council Resolution. In the same meeting, the two attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and accused him of harming the two-state solution.
Only yesterday, a US State Department spokesman rejected Netanyahu’s allegations on the issue and denied that the US government stood behind the UN Security Council Resolution: “There was nothing premeditated and no move was orchestrated by the United States.”
