Today (Thursday), US Attorney General Jeff Sessions responded to President Donald Trump’s personal attack against him. “I have the honor of serving as Attorney General,” he said at a press conference. “It goes beyond any thought I would have had for myself. We love this job, we love this department and I plan to continue doing so as long as appropriate.”

In an interview with the New York Times, Trump expressed regret for appointing Sessions. “Sessions gets the job,” he said. “Right after he gets the job, he recuses himself…If he was going to recuse himself, he should’ve told me before he took the job and I would’ve picked somebody else…It’s extremely unfair, and that’s a mild word, to the president.”

Last March, Sessions recused himself from the investigation into Russia’s interference in the presidential election and Russian ties with the Trump administration after it was exposed that he met with the Russian Ambassador in Washington prior to his appointment as Attorney General.
