Two Shin Bet employees were indicted on Monday for stealing agency money. The agency claimed that the two held administrative and financial positions within the organization.

The case began when the behavior of the two aroused suspicions and the agency began an internal audit. The review showed that the two clearly deviated from the agency’s regulations as the irregularities indicated that the two possibly stole money.

The agency handed the case over to the Israeli Justice Ministry’s independent Police Internal Investigations Department, which opened an investigation. The two will remain in police custody for the duration of their trial.

The Shin Bet said it views “any violation” of its standards and values as “grave.”
