After what appears to have been a police shoot-out with the suspected driver who injured six French soldiers after ramming his vehicle into a crowd, local media report that the driver has been arrested.

Shortly after today’s (Wednesday) car ramming attack near Paris, in which six soldiers were injured, local media reported that the suspect has been arrested. According to eyewitnesses, a BMW, the type of vehicle used to carry out the attack, was spotted at the scene of the suspect’s arrest, covered in bullet holes following an exchange of gunfire with the police. A legal source confirmed that the driver was indeed the car-rammer.

As reported earlier by JOL, a car rammed into a group of soldiers who were on patrol in a suburb of Paris and subsequently fled the scene. Six soldiers were injured in the incident that is now under investigation by the French Police and its elite Police Tactical Unit tasked with counter-terrorism.

According to the police announcement, of the six injured, two are in serious condition. “A police investigation was launched and we are searching for the car,” the local police department said in a statement immediately following the attack.
