Palestinian media has reported that the Israeli army has arrested four Palestinians, including a woman, in the Beit Kahil village near Hebron as part of the search for the murderers of Dvir Sorek.

Dvir was kidnapped and stabbed to death last Wednesday night, while on his was on his way back to his yeshiva. The lifeless body of the young soldier was found at the edge of a road at the entrance to the kibbutz of Migdal Oz last Thursday.

“Thirty minutes before he was murdered he was in touch with us while on a bus en route to the yeshiva,” said the director of his Yeshiva Rabbi Shlomo Wilk, on military radio.

“He went to Jerusalem to buy gifts for his rabbis, and was found squeezing these books that he had bought for them,” he said.

Rabbi Sarel Rosenblatt, a teacher at the Yeshiva where Sorek attended said,“He was an amazing man, very sensitive, smart, modest, who fused wisdom and quiet… This is a man who at the beginning of the year saw an Arab walking around the area with a donkey that looked unwell, sick, so he offered to buy the donkey. He bought it, treated it, and sent it away.”

According to these sources, the army has also commandeered a vehicle and searched several buildings in the area.

Dvir Sorek’s funeral took place last Thursday in the Jewish settlement of Ofra, about 50 kilometers north of the place where his body was discovered at dawn.

According to the National Transplant Center, The soldier’s family has put in a request to donate Dvir’s organs. “If we could have asked Dvir, that’s what he would have liked,” said Yoav Sorek, Dvir’s father.
