Today marks the 4th year since Jewish NBA Commissioner David Stern stepped down. Serving as commissioner for 30 years, he is considered to be one of the best commissioners in the history of sports
Because of David Stern’s vision as NBA Commissioner, he was able to take the NBA from an unknown commodity on the verge of collapse and turn it into the sport of the modern world.
Here are some of the most prolific moments during his tenure.
The Dream Rivalry
Four months later after Stern took office the NBA’s dream match up Celtics vs. Lakers in the Finals came true. It’d be the first postseason meeting between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird . Each had won NBA titles by 1984, but these Finals rekindled the league’s best rivalry. It cemented Stern’s push for a league built on its stars.
