Watch: Jews mark 9th of Av in Iran
As reported earlier by JOL, hundreds of Jewish worshippers marked the 9th of Av by going up to the Temple Mount today (Tuesday). Other Jewish communities around the world also marked the Jewish day of mourning the destruction of the Biblical Temples, including in Iran, where there is still a small Jewish community.
The above video shows members of an Iranian Jewish community holding Tisha B’Av, or the 9th of Av, services. As this is a day in which Jews around the world mourn the destruction of the First and Second Temples, it is customary to sit on the floor as one does in mourning. It is also a day of fasting to which all Halachic laws concerning fast days apply.
