In an interview, the US President said he does not know whether or not his top diplomat, Rex Tillerson, will be kept in his position until the end of his term.
US President Donald Trump said he doesn’t know if Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will remain in his position until the end of his term.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump brushed off criticism over the large number of unfilled positions in the State Department, describing his approach as “cost saving.”
“We don’t need all the people,” Trump said. “The one that matters is me. I’m the only one that matters because when it comes to it, that’s what the policy is going to be.”
Trump also said he is “not happy” about the fact that some State Department staff are not aligning with his agenda.
When asked whether he intends to keep Tillerson in his position until the end of his term, Trump replied, “We’ll see, I don’t know.”
