Dozens of tsunami warning signs were placed on Tel Aviv beaches on Thursday morning, and more are expected to be placed along Haifa’s beaches soon. The signs were placed after a thorough investigation into potential tsunami flood locations and closest evacuation routes was conducted.
The unveiling ceremony was held in light of the upcoming November 5 World Tsunami Awareness day. In placing these warning signs, Israel joins other countries such as the US, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Chile and many others that have already mapped evacuation routes in case of a tsunami. The routes lead from danger zones on beaches to safe evacuation areas.
