Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said during a cabinet meeting in Ankara last week that Israel and Turkey are close to normalizing their relations, as the reconciliation talks are reaching their end, according to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.

According to the report that was published today (Monday), Turkey’s Foreign Minister said during a 9-hour long cabinet meeting that Israel and Turkey are expected “to make a joint statement about the subject within the coming days.” The cabinet meeting was conducted by Turkish President Erdoğan himself and focused on, among other topics, restoring the relations with Israel.

This report comes 2 weeks after a senior level Turkish official said that the talks between Jerusalem and Ankara are progressing well. The official stated that mutual understandings have been achieved that allow the signing of a deal.
