About two months after the wave of fires across Israel, Tu-BiShvat is being celebrated all over Israel. This is a good time to see if Israel’s forests are looking green again.

About two months after the wave of fires across the country, Tu-BiShvat is being celebrated all over Israel. The wave of fires lasted 5 days and occurred at the end of the November. During the wave of fires, 1,700 fires broke out in 58 different locations.

A drone took pictures of the burnt forests two months after the wave of fires. In some blackened areas, you can see the beginning of new green plants starting to sprout.

The fires burned thousands of Israel’s reservation acres totaling to the size of the cities Holon, Hod-Hasharon and Kiryat Motzkin combined. According to the Jewish National Fund, this was the biggest forest fire since the Carmel Fire.

What actions have been taken since the fires? There is nothing to do but let the forests rehabilitate themselves without any human intervention. In places where the forests can’t rehabilitate themselves, JNF is planting new trees.
