Amid the rising tensions between the US and North Korea, Britain is reportedly formulating plans for a possible military conflict with the reclusive state, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

Sources told the British newspaper that several options are being considered. One of the plans currently being examined is the deployment of the UK’s new aircraft carrier, the HMS Queen Elizabeth, to the Far East region even though it has not completed its flight trials.

“We have plenty of ships to send … the Type-45 destroyers, the Type-23 frigates,” a senior British official told the Daily Mail. “Britain’s new aircraft carrier could be pressed into service early if things turn south.”

Two days ago, US President Donald Trump said that “only one thing will work” when it comes to Pyongyang, alluding to a military operation. In response, North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un boasted about his country’s nuclear weapon developments and said that they are a “powerful deterrent” that safeguards North Korea’s sovereignty.
