The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said Friday it did not find any evidence supporting Israel’s claim that Hezbollah had violated the ceasefire agreement by setting up observation posts near the border under the pretense of environmental work.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit published footage earlier this week showing several observation posts manned by Hezbollah members disguising themselves as environmental protection activists.

The UN stated that its force “spotted nothing but activists planting trees, in accordance with the stated objectives of the NGO,” but found nothing to suggest that Hezbollah was violating UN Resolution 1701.

Danny Danon, Israel’s UN ambassador, said in response, “It is sad that UNIFIL chooses once again to turn a blind eye to Hezbollah’s activity in the area.”

“These people are not doing environmental work but collecting data for future terror attacks,” Danon said. “It’s time that UNIFIL started doing its job by enforcing the Security Council resolution.”
