New US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley blocked the appointment of former Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to the position of the UN envoy to Libya. Haley explained that this decision was made in order to support Israel and added that the UN is biased in favor of the Palestinians.

Haley explained that US President Donald Trump’s administration was disappointed that the UN secretary-general informed the Security Council that he intends to appoint Fayyad to the important and sensitive position.

“For too long the UN has been unfairly biased in favor of the Palestinian Authority to the detriment of our allies in Israel,” stated Haley. She also added that the White House encourages both sides to negotiate directly and to end the conflict.

Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon hurried to welcome the American move, “This is the beginning of a new era where the US stands firmly behind Israel against any and all attempts to harm the Jewish state.”
