The White House issued a statement today saying that Iran’s attack on the Golan Heights was “provocative.” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders described the airstrikes as “provocative rocket attacks from Syria against Israeli citizens” and expressed strong support for “Israel’s right to act in self-defense.”

Sanders said that “the Iranian regime’s deployment into Syria of offensive rocket and missile systems aimed at Israel is an unacceptable and highly dangerous development for the entire Middle East.”

Meanwhile, Syria has expressed dismay over the overnight airstrikes and blamed Israel for disrupting the peace and stability in the region. Iran has not yet made a statement about the attack.

Israel said on Thursday that more than 20 missiles were launched by Iranian forces in Syria and that some of them were intercepted by Iron Dome.

Israel also said that it had successfully attacked most of Iran’s military installations in Syria, while Syria said that Israel had destroyed a radar station and an ammunition depot near Damascus.

Meanwhile, Bahrain has expressed support for Israel, with the Arab nation’s foreign minister tweeting in Arabic that Israel has a right to defend itself.
