A man from California who murdered a Jewish University of Pennsylvania pre-med student earlier this month is now reported to belong to a neo-Nazi group.
According to ProPublica, three people who knew 20-year-old Samuel Woodward said he was a member of the Atomwaffen Division, an armed Fascist organization that aims to overthrow the US government.
Woodward has been charged with the murder of 19-year-old Blaze Bernstein, who went missing in January while visiting his family in California over winter break. The two men had attended high school together. According to prosecutors, Woodward stabbed Bernstein over 20 times.

After being arrested, Woodward told interrogators that Bernstein, an openly-gay man, had tried to kiss him. As the investigation progressed, though, prosecutors found pictures and videos in which Woodward is shown with other members of the Atomwaffen Division, leading them to believe the murder was committed for nationalistic reasons.
