US Senator Al Franken has been accused of kissing and groping a woman without her consent.

Leeann Tweeden, a television news anchor, came forward with her story on KABC radio on Thursday, claiming that Franken, a former comedian who has appeared on Saturday Night Live, forced a kiss on her during a rehearsal for a skit during a 2006 Middle East tour to entertain US troops.

She also shared a photo showing Franken placing his hands over her breasts while she is asleep.

“We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth,” Tweeden wrote, recounting the rehearsal.

“I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldn’t be so nice about it the next time,” she added.

Franken said in a statement, “I certainly don’t remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann.”
