A new McDonald’s branch near Vatican City will give free meals to local homeless people. This decision was made following public criticism over the opening of the fast food place.

The branch’s management said they are working in close ties with Pope Francis in order to implement this move. An Italian charity organization will collect the meals every Monday and hand them out to the needy.

In a statement, the organization said the move “will provide essential foods for many men and women forced to live on the street.”
