A group of artists calling itself TrumpMyTrump held a public art performance on the Newcastle beach, protesting the US President’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord.
A group of 40 Australian artists held a satirical news conference on the Newcastle beach Tuesday, all dressed as US President Donald Trump.
This uncommon sight turned out to be a protest warning against Trump’s recent decision to withdraw from the Paris agreement, an alliance between the US and Australia formed to deal with greenhouse gas emissions.
The artists carried a flag combining the flags of the two countries.
Jason Freddi, the artist who organized the event, said it was deliberately scheduled to take place on July 4, the US Independence Day.
“We’re hoping the images and the story it tells, that people can make their own interpretation,” Freddi said.
