400 travel bloggers from around the world visited Israel this past week as part of Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) International, which is the largest gathering in the world for travel journalists and bloggers. The conference took place in Jerusalem at the city’s International Convention Center.
Gary Arndt, one of the most successful travel bloggers in the world, was one of the bloggers who attended the conference. Arndt has more than 2.5 million followers on social media sites and has been touring the world for the past 10 years.
“We only hear about bad things in the news,” said Arndt. The successful American blogger explained that people were concerned about him traveling to Israel due to safety issues. However, he said that they were mostly concerned about incidents that occurred years ago and that the reality in Israel is different now.
“After two days of spending time in the Old City, there were over 16 million exposures on social media sites and that’s only the beginning,” explained director of Tourism at the Jerusalem Development Authority Ilanit Melchoir.
