Today (Friday), the Petah Tikva court extended a 39-year-old Ramallah resident’s detention after he was arrested on suspicion of planning to carry out a car ramming attack using a stolen truck. He was arrested at the end of a police chase and told a reporter that he wanted to run over IDF soldiers because of Al-Aqsa.
“I came and took a truck. I needed to run over the soldiers because of Al-Aqsa. What you’re doing at Al-Aqsa,” the driver said. “I don’t regret it…even if I’ll sit in jail.”

The Israel Police received a report yesterday (Thursday) that a truck had been stolen in Holon and was traveling towards Rishon LeZion. The police unit that found the truck in the Beit Dagan area called for the driver to stop but he refused. Instead, the driver hit a police car and a private car while attempting to flee the scene.
During his questioning, the driver admitted he had stolen the truck in order to use it to run over IDF soldiers in the central region of the country. The police investigation into the potential terror attack continues.
