Brazilian soccer player Alan Ruschel is one of the six survivors of the deadly plane crash in Colombia, which killed most of the Chapecoense soccer team. In a video uploaded today (Thursday) from a hospital, he can be seen walking and thanking his fans for their love and support.

The Chapecoense defender left the Intensive Care Unit and hopes to return to Brazil soon. Assisted by the team’s doctor, Ruschel showed improvement and according to the hospital, already started physiotherapy treatments to reach a full recovery.

“I want to tell you that I’m recovering very well,” he said. “I want to thank everyone for the strength and affection you gave me. I am grateful to everyone. Thank you very much.”
