The security cameras at a nearby gas station caught the attempted attack on four border guards yesterday (Saturday) near Hebron on film. A Palestinian man from Hebron apparently tried to run over the four soldiers, injuring all four of them lightly. The driver claims that the unfortunate occurrence was an accident and that he put his foot on the gas by mistake, but it was later revealed that he was driving a stolen car.
The security cameras at a nearby gas station caught an attempt to run over four border guards last night (Saturday) on film. The soldiers were stationed at the Beit Omer border crossing close to Hebron when a man suddenly ran into them, injuring all four of them lightly.
The driver of the car, a 33 year-old resident of Beit Omer was arrested and taken in for questioning after one of the soldier’s commanders who was hit by the car immediately fired at the tires in order to stall the suspect at the scene. The suspect asserted during questioning that he mistakenly pressed on the gas pedal instead of the brakes, however from the initial investigation conducted by police it appears that the vehicle he was driving was stolen and that the ‘mistake’ was in fact an attempted attack on IDF soldiers.
Two of the soldiers were taken to nearby hospitals to receive medical attention, while the other two received medical care on the scene.
