During the night, IDF forces cooperated with the border police and the Civil Administration to demolish the home of one of the terrorists who murdered Reuven Schmerling in the Israeli-Arab city of Kafr Qasim several months ago.

During the demolition, a violent disturbance erupted and dozens of Palestinians threw rocks and burnt car tires at the security forces, who dispersed the riot. No injuries or damage was caused. Last month, the IDF gave notice of its intention to demolish the home so that the terrorist’s family had the option to evacuate the premises.

In October, two Palestinians from Qabatiya were arrested on suspicion of being involved in Schmerling’s murder, whose body was found in a storage unit in Kafr Qasim on Sukkot eve. The Shin Bet, which investigated the murder together with the Israel Police, announced that the investigation indicated that the crime was nationalistically motivated.
