An Israeli inmate accused of assaulting a prison guard was acquitted after a three-year trial. The footage that proved his innocence was discovered during the trial and showed that nothing happened.
An Israeli prisoner was accused of attacking and injuring a prison guard. Following a three-year trial, today (Tuesday), the video that led to his acquittal was published for the first time.
What is unique about the footage is that ‘nothing’ can be seen on it- the security camera, which was aimed at the scene where the inmate allegedly attacked the guard, didn’t show anything. The footage was only discovered during the trial after the police and prosecution didn’t present it as evidence.
“This is a serious failure,” the judge criticized the Israel Prison Service and the investigating team. “Why was the investigation material not presented at the beginning of the police investigation? The plaintiff was misled that this material does not exist.”
