After more than a week of intense fighting in the area, the Iraqi army announced that the city of Fallujah has been completely liberated from the murderous terrorist organization.
The Iraqi army claimed today (Sunday) that it has completely taken over Fallujah, which was the last remaining ISIS-controlled part of the country. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced that the city has been fully liberated after more than a week of intense battles in the area. Despite the announcement, encounters between the Iraqi military and ISIS are still taking place throughout the country.
“We are announcing that the terrorism has been eliminated, the Battle of Fallujah is over,” said Lt. Gen. Abdul-Wahab al-Saadi, who commanded the Iraqi forces during this operation. “At least 1,800 militants were killed during the operation.”
The Iraqi Prime Minister decided to begin the operation for taking back Fallujah last month. ISIS took over the city in 2014.
