A 30-year-old policeman was stabbed last night by two Arab teenagers in the Old City of Jerusalem.
The attack took place at the Chain Gate that faces the Temple Mount. The area has been closed off while the police investigate the crime scene.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, one of the attackers was shot dead while the second assailant was injured, but did not give any indication of the severity of his injuries.
The Palestinian Wafa news also reported that a third Palestinian was also injured at the scene and transported to a hospital in East Jerusalem.
Magen David Adom’s paramedics were dispatched to the scene and provided first aid to the policeman before evacuating him to the hospital.
“The stabbing victim was treated at the scene for a stab wound in his upper body, after which he was transported to the hospital for further care while fully conscious,” said a Magen David Adom first responder.
The Israeli policeman is reported to be in moderate but stable condition.
