A new maritime Iron Dome interception system passed a series of successful tests and will be stationed on IDF ships to protect offshore assets. Watch the joint drill by the Israeli Navy and Air Force.
An operational test of a maritime Iron Dome system was successfully carried out on Monday. The new system was stationed on an Israeli Navy vessel and successfully intercepted all the barrages that were fired towards it by the Israeli Air Force.
The tests were carried by the Navy and the IAF as part of a general military preparation. It is feared that Hamas and Hezbollah may fire rockets towards Israel’s offshore oil rigs in future conflicts. The new system includes a radar that may also assist in protecting sensitive assets on shore, such as power stations and ports that are considered top targets by Hezbollah.
