Last Friday, New Yorkers documented as a police officer violently attempted to arrest a teen. According to reports, the suspect was charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) announced that it will investigate the viral video of a police officer beating up a teen in the middle of a busy street last Friday. In the video, the police officer can be seen repeatedly striking the suspect in the head as passersby attempted to stop him.
According to the police, the teen was attempting to steal a bicycle and when they arrived, he jumped on one of the police officers and tried to choke him. At this point, the other officer intervened and tried to separate the two.
In the past, the teen was suspected in several armed robberies. Following the incident, he was charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
