Malek Ahmad, the terrorist who killed IDF soldier Elhai Teharlev in Ofra Thursday, was arrested back in 2015 after trying to infiltrate another West Bank settlement.
The car-ramming attack in Ofra on Thursday, in which a Palestinian terrorist killed IDF soldier Elhai Teharlev, wasn’t the terrorist’s first encounter with Israeli security forces. In 2015, as a newly released video shows, Malek Ahmad was arrested after trying to infiltrate another West Bank settlement.
The officer who then arrested Ahmad is heard in the video telling the cameraman, “He said he came to do Jihad here.” He then proceeds to frisk Ahmad’s body, taking his identification documents and making sure he isn’t carrying explosives.
Ahmad, 21, is now the ninth terrorist to have come out of Silwad, a Palestinian town east of Ramallah.
The investigation into Thursday’s attack indicates that Ahmad drove back and forth on Highway 60 until he spotted a group of soldiers. He then accelerated in order to hit them, killing 20-year-old Teharlev.
