Yesterday, a Palestinian attempted to strangle an off duty Israeli soldier at the Allenby border crossing between Israel and Jordan, the army said in a statement.

According to the statement, the 35-year-old man from Nablus, in the north of the West Bank, was waiting at the border crossing when a soldier in plain clothes passed by him. The Palestinian took a cellphone charger cable and tried to strangle the soldier. When the IDF soldier broke loose the Palestinian chased after him and struck him numerous times. The soldier managed to call for help, and security officers at the border post quickly arrested the suspect.

Thankfully, the IDF soldier who was attacked suffered no serious injury.
